Egyptian Government Prepares to Procure First Batch of Electric Vehicles for Officials
The Egyptian government is preparing to expand the adoption of electric power and environmentally friendly technologies across its operations, including government-owned vehicle fleets, as part of its broader transition toward sustainable mobility solutions.
Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly stated that electric vehicles have become a key pillar in developing a modern, eco-friendly transportation system, noting that they do not cause pollution and align with the country's vision for a modern state.
Government Plan to Expand EV Adoption
The Minister of Finance outlined the government's strategy to increase the use of electric vehicles across ministries and public institutions to improve the efficiency of government fleets. The plan will also support the expansion of smart charging stations and the implementation of digital payment systems.
Study Highlights Benefits of Electrification
The Ministry of Finance revealed that a recent study confirmed that replacing conventional vehicles with electric vehicles would generate significant savings. Madbouly also indicated that government officials will negotiate with electric vehicle manufacturers operating in Egypt to secure the best purchasing offers for the first batch of electric vehicles designated for government officials, replacing traditional vehicles.
