Jaecoo J5 Lands in Egypt with Prices Starting at EGP 1.195 Million
Ezz Elarab El Sewedy has launched the Jaecoo J5 in Egypt at prices starting from EGP 1.195 million for the Urban trim and EGP 1.325 million for the Elite version. The SUV uses a 1.5-liter turbo engine paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. It competes with the Chery Tiggo 8 from EGP 1.200 million and the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max 2027 from EGP 1.340 million.
Jaecoo J5 has officially entered Egypt's new car market this October, with prices starting at EGP 1.195 million for the Urban trim and reaching EGP 1.325 million for the Elite version. The Chinese SUV arrives through local distributor Ezz Elarab El Sewedy, positioning itself squarely against established compact SUVs in the same price bracket.
Jaecoo J5 Specs: 1.5L Turbo and CVT
Under the hood, the Jaecoo J5 runs a 1.5-liter turbocharged engine mated to a CVT gearbox with front-wheel drive. It's a familiar formula for this segment. Cabin space is generous for the class, and the rear cargo area can be expanded by folding the rear seats — a practical touch that matters to families shopping in a price range where every feature counts.
Chery Tiggo 8: The Closest Rival
The Chery Tiggo 8 comes to Egypt with multiple trim and seating configurations. The seven-seat Comfort trim is priced at EGP 1.200 million, the five-seat Luxury at EGP 1.260 million. The seven-seat Luxury at EGP 1.300 million. That puts it almost neck-and-neck with the J5 on price — buyers will decide on equipment and seating layout rather than sticker alone.
Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max 2027: Another Option
Also on the list is the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max 2027, offered in Egypt in two trims. The Comfort starts at around EGP 1.340 million, while the Luxury reaches EGP 1.440 million. The gap to the Jaecoo J5 ranges between EGP 15,000 and EGP 115,000 depending on trim — a spread that could swing a buyer either way once features are compared side by side.
Competition in Egypt's Chinese SUV segment is no longer a walkover. Chery's pricing puts direct pressure on any new entrant, and the J5 knows it. The distributor is betting on the Urban and Elite trims plus a 1.5-liter turbo to offer a practical alternative — but the final verdict belongs to Egyptian buyers who now weigh price and equipment with equal attention.
