Jaecoo J5 Hits Egypt Starting at EGP 1.195 Million — Meet Its Top Rivals
Jaecoo J5 has officially launched in Egypt with prices starting at EGP 1.195 million for the Urban trim and EGP 1.325 million for the Elite. The Chinese SUV uses a 1.5-litre turbo engine, CVT gearbox, and front-wheel drive, and it takes aim at the Chery Tiggo 8 (from EGP 1.2 million) and the 2027 Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max (from EGP 1.34 million). Competition in the EGP 1.2 to 1.4 million SUV bracket is now tighter than ever.
The Jaecoo J5 has officially entered the Egyptian market this October with a starting price of EGP 1.195 million for the Urban trim, rising to EGP 1.325 million for the Elite version. The Chinese SUV packs a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine mated to a CVT gearbox and front-wheel drive. It lands straight into the country's most crowded SUV bracket.
Jaecoo J5 Brings Sharp Pricing to Egypt's SUV Fight
Al-Azzab Al-Sewedy Group, the local distributor for Jaecoo, confirmed the J5 will be offered in two trim levels — Urban and Elite. Interior space is generous, and the rear cargo area can be expanded by folding the rear seats. Those specs put the Jaecoo J5 face to face with Chinese and European SUVs that sit within the same price, size, and equipment window. The fight is on.
Leading the rival list is the Chery Tiggo 8. That is sold in Egypt with multiple seating and trim options. The seven-seat Comfort variant costs EGP 1.2 million, the five-seat Luxury is priced at EGP 1.26 million. The seven-seat Luxury reaches EGP 1.3 million. Those numbers sit uncomfortably close to the Jaecoo J5's own sticker.
Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max 2027 Adds More Pressure
The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max 2027 is available in two trims, with the Comfort version at around EGP 1.34 million and the Luxury at EGP 1.44 million. That pushes the Chery badge into a higher price band than the J5 Elite, though the gap is narrow enough to matter for buyers comparing specs line by line.
Does the Tiggo 7 have enough brand equity to hold its ground against a fresh launch? The official price sheets show the three models clustered tightly between EGP 1.2 million and EGP 1.44 million. That means the Egyptian buyer's decision will hinge on equipment and after-sales support as much as the sticker. Chery already has an established dealer network; Jaecoo is still building its footprint from near zero.
The EGP 1.2 to 1.4 million SUV segment has never been this crowded. Jaecoo J5 arrived with sharp pricing and a well-judged equipment list, but it still has to earn trust in a market that's warming to Chinese brands one model at a time. First move made.
