Egypt's New EV Charging Rates: What Drivers Need to Know
What should electric vehicle owners expect at charging stations now? Infinity EV has released its updated tariff for EV charging across Egypt, following a series of energy price adjustments that have reshaped operating costs in recent months.
The Updated Tariff Breakdown
Slow AC charging now costs 3.97 EGP per kilowatt-hour. The fast DC option, however, jumps to 7.67 EGP per kilowatt-hour — a significant gap that forces drivers to weigh speed against budget.
The company currently operates a network of approximately 200 charging stations spread across 16 governorates, offering both slow and fast chargers to accommodate various user needs and vehicle types.
Why Prices Went Up
The new rates follow Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Decision No. 101 of 2025. That directive also incorporated the government's electricity tariff increase for the commercial sector, which took effect in April 2026.
Infinity EV confirmed the adjustment was implemented immediately after the announcement, aligning charging station operating costs with the higher electricity prices now in force.
Broader Market Impact
The move is part of a wider energy price review across the country. Rising petroleum product prices and vehicle gas supply costs have also added pressure on charging infrastructure operators.
Charging network expansion continues nonetheless, with operators pushing to increase station coverage across governorates as EV sales in the Egyptian market keep climbing.
