Tesla is preparing to bring its electric heavy-duty truck, the Semi, to the European market after years of delays. The American company will showcase the truck at the IAA Transportation trade fair in Hanover, Germany, next month, revealing full technical specifications. The estimated driving range reaches 800 kilometers on a single charge.

Tesla Reveals Its Plan in Germany

Tesla announced its plan through its official account on X platform last Thursday. The exhibition will run from September 15 to 20, with September 14 dedicated to press and media events. The company will use this participation to reveal more details about the truck. That stands as one of its most prominent projects in the commercial vehicle sector.

Semi Truck: A Project Delayed Since 2017

Tesla Semi was first unveiled in 2017, with production originally planned for 2019, but the project faced a series of delays over the years. The company justified the production delay at one stage by the need to direct available batteries toward passenger cars, led by the Model 3, one of Tesla's best-selling models. After years of waiting, production began on a wider scale in Nevada in April.

First Trucks Reach Customers

Tesla has already started delivering the first Semi trucks to customers in the United States, including beverage and food giant PepsiCo. The arrival of the truck to customers marks a new phase in the Tesla Semi project, which aims to expand in the heavy transport sector relying on electric power.

According to data announced by Tesla, the Semi truck has an estimated driving range of up to 800 kilometers on a single charge. This figure places the truck in direct competition with several electric trucks offered by European companies that have already begun entering the continent's markets.
