The handover is complete. Egypt's Minister of Transport, Engineer Kamel El-Wazir, officially received 20 new air-conditioned tourist buses today. Produced by Nasr Automotive Company under license from global giant Yutong, the fleet is headed to the Arab Union for Land Transport "Superjet". This delivery marks another step in the country's push to revive its long-dormant automotive manufacturing sector.

A Model of National Integration

The minister confirmed that cooperation between Nasr Automotive and Superjet represents a successful model of integration among national companies. The equation is straightforward: provide modern mass transit vehicles with the highest safety and quality standards — while supporting industrial development plans. This aligns with directives from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to localize strategic industries and increase local content.

Numbers reveal the scale of movement. Contracts include supplying 250 buses to East Delta, West and Central Delta, and Upper Egypt companies "Egy Bus", plus this dedicated batch for Superjet. Ministry-affiliated transport companies took the lead in relying on local production. The results are visible on the ground.

Comprehensive Localization Plan

This deal isn't an isolated event. The minister pointed to an integrated plan covering buses, tractors, railway cars, metro, tram. Monorail manufacturing — alongside feeder industries. The ultimate goal is transferring modern technology to Egypt and deepening local manufacturing. That means thousands of new job opportunities.

Nasr Sky Specifications

The new buses belong to the "Nasr Sky" class and carry an unmistakable Egyptian identity. Local content exceeds 65%, and the buses are manufactured by Egyptian hands at Nasr Automotive factories. Each bus seats 49 passengers. But the real story lies in the interior specifications designed for long-distance comfort.

The list is impressive. USB ports at every seat. VIP seats and curtains that are water and fire resistant. A refrigerator and restroom. Individual lighting control. Independent air conditioning vents for each passenger. Every detail aims to transform the bus travel experience into something closer to economy-class air travel.

The minister concluded by confirming the ministry's commitment to updating mass transit fleets with local production. The ambitious plan targets transforming Egypt into a regional hub for transportation manufacturing, while boosting the reach of Egyptian products in local and regional markets in the coming years.
