Price Cuts Up to EGP 340K — What is Happening in Egypt's Car Market?
Car companies in Egypt announced new price cuts reaching EGP 340,000 on models from Chery, Volvo, and Kayie. The biggest discount was on the Volvo ES90 electric car, dropping to EGP 3.95 million. The reductions also included Chery Tiggo 4 Pro and Arrizo 5, plus Kayie E5 and X3 Pro. These moves reflect strong competition among brands to attract buyers in recent weeks.
Egypt's car market witnessed notable price movements over the past few days, as several companies and agents announced reductions on a number of new cars, with discounts ranging between EGP 28,000 and EGP 340,000, according to the latest announced lists and offers. The cuts included models from different brands, including Chery, Volvo, and Kayie, and the cars varied between sedans, SUVs, and electric vehicles — raising questions about the reasons behind these price movements and whether they could extend to other models and brands in the coming period.
8 Cars Saw Price Drops
The recent cuts included 8 new cars, with Volvo receiving the largest discounts, while Chery and Kayie models saw smaller reductions. The Chery Arrizo 6 GT 2027 dropped by EGP 61,000 to EGP 96,000, now starting from EGP 899,000 instead of EGP 995,000 for the first trim.
The locally assembled Chery Tiggo 4 Pro 2027 also fell by EGP 61,000 to EGP 66,000, starting from EGP 899,000 instead of EGP 960,000. The cuts also included the Chery Arrizo 5 2027, whose trims dropped by EGP 50,000, now starting from EGP 680,000.
Volvo Takes the Biggest Slash
Volvo topped the list in terms of discount value, with the ES90 electric car dropping by EGP 340,000, from EGP 4.29 million to EGP 3.95 million. The Volvo XC60 also saw reductions between EGP 200,000 and EGP 310,000 depending on the trim, while the XC90 received a EGP 300,000 cut.
Volvo's offers went beyond price cuts, as the company also announced free maintenance programs for limited periods, along with installment plans on the EX30 electric, and a free home charger within the announced offer. This integrated package reflects the Swedish brand's ambition to strengthen its presence in the local market amid fierce competition.
Kayie Joins the Race
Kayie cars also saw price reductions, with the E5 dropping by up to EGP 50,000, while the X3 Pro fell by the same amount for some trims. After the cuts, the Kayie E5 now starts from EGP 859,900, while the X3 Pro starts from EGP 869,900.
These synchronized moves from multiple brands within a short period send a clear signal about the market's direction toward greater pricing flexibility. The question now is whether these cuts mark the beginning of a wider wave or are just temporary offers to boost demand before year-end. All indicators point to the Egyptian consumer being in a stronger position to negotiate.
