Geely, Abou Ghaly and El Nasr Sign MoU to Assemble 4 Electric Models in Egypt

Geely, Abou Ghaly Motors and El Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company have signed a memorandum of understanding to study the local assembly of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in Egypt. The project aims to boost domestic manufacturing and strengthen the presence of electric and hybrid cars in the Egyptian market, according to an official statement.

Who Does What in This Three-Way Deal?

The agreement splits responsibilities clearly between all parties. El Nasr will provide the facilities and implement the required modifications to production lines, while Abou Ghaly Motors will invest in equipping the plant and take the lead on project management alongside Geely. The Chinese automaker will supply technical support, production line modification plans and complete assembly kits.

Geely's role also extends to localizing the industry and qualifying local suppliers, in addition to setting the specific quality standards for production. Marketing, sales, after-sales service and export coordination are all covered under the agreement — a clear sign the project targets more than just the domestic market.

Four Models to Start: The Plan and Beyond

The initial roadmap covers the assembly of 4 new energy models from Geely in Egypt. That number could grow over time, depending on local market needs, regional demand and export plans. The figure represents a serious starting point for a market that's still building its EV ecosystem.

The agreement follows strong growth for Geely in the new energy vehicle segment since entering Egypt through its authorized dealer Abou Ghaly Motors in May 2026. The press conference brought together Chinese and Egyptian media, alongside representatives from the company and El Nasr, after a facility tour to showcase the group's capabilities and operations.
