Raya Smart Buildings and Sungrow Discuss Expanding Electra's EV Fast-Charging Network in Egypt
Raya Smart Buildings, a subsidiary of Raya Holding for Financial Investments, held a strategic meeting with Sungrow, the global renewable energy technology specialist. The session aimed to strengthen cooperation in developing electric vehicle charging infrastructure in Egypt and support expansion plans for the Electra network, which ranks among the fastest-growing charging networks in the country.
Top Executives Lead the Strategic Session
Tompson Ming, Group Vice President of Sungrow Power Supply and Head of OSKA Center and the Middle East and Africa region, attended the meeting alongside Ahmed Khalil, CEO of Raya Holding, and Ahmed Ibrahim, CEO of Raya Smart Buildings. The two sides discussed deepening their strategic partnership and laid out plans for the next phase to accelerate Egypt's shift toward electric mobility.
The visit reinforces both companies' commitment to continued investment in the EV charging sector, with a focus on developing technical solutions that support the spread of fast-charging stations in line with expected growth in local electric vehicle sales.
Electra as a Product of the Raya-Sungrow Partnership
Electra, the electric vehicle charging brand owned by Raya Smart Buildings, emerged from the partnership between Raya and Sungrow. The network combines Chinese technology solutions with Raya's expertise in infrastructure management and services within the Egyptian market.
During the session, both parties emphasized that their collaboration goes beyond a typical supplier-operator relationship, reaching the level of a full strategic partnership aimed at building an integrated EV charging ecosystem centered on innovation, sustainability, and scalable fast-charging services.
The meeting reviewed achievements since the launch of the Electra charging network, particularly after several ultra-fast charging stations began operation across multiple locations, with performance assessments and a clear roadmap for the upcoming phase.
Egypt's EV sector continues to attract growing interest from both global and local players, pushing operators to accelerate network expansion and efficiency improvements at a time when the market anticipates a significant rise in electric vehicle adoption over the coming years.
