Work is moving forward. Eng. Ibrahim Bakheet, Deputy Head of the National Authority for Tunnels, reviewed the execution status of the high-speed electric train station in Matrouh, along with the latest progress on the high-speed electric train network during Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly's visit to Matrouh and inspection of the station, attended by Transport Minister Eng. Kamel El-Wazir and a number of Ministry of Transport and National Authority for Tunnels officials. The project continues to advance.

Construction Progress at the Matrouh Station

Matrouh station remains under active construction. The ongoing works include bridges and industrial structures, including route bridges, culverts and tunnels, as well as final finishing works at stations and service and commercial buildings, electromechanical works, and access roads leading to the stations as part of the project's current execution stages. Several work fronts are active.

The scope is broad. Bakheet explained that construction at the station extends beyond the main structural elements to include final finishes for stations and service and commercial buildings, while electromechanical works and station approach roads continue alongside bridges, industrial structures, route bridges, culverts and tunnels. The work is advancing across multiple areas.

Sections Handed Over for Signaling and Control Systems

Rail and catenary installation is advancing. The Deputy Head of the National Authority for Tunnels pointed to significant progress in installing rails and the catenary for the overhead electric network, with completed sections being handed over successively to Siemens for implementation of signaling, communications and control systems, reflecting progress across the project's various execution stages. This marks another active phase.

Operations and maintenance are also taking shape. Bakheet reviewed work at the project's main workshop in Hadayek October, along with three maintenance points in the New Capital, Borg El Arab and Matrouh, supporting the operation and maintenance system while ensuring sustained efficiency of the rolling stock and network components as work continues on the high-speed electric train and Matrouh station. The wider system is progressing in parallel.
