MG RX9 PHEV in Egypt: 5 Key Highlights Await the Local Market
The standout number? An electric range approaching 100 kilometers in a large family SUV, and that's exactly what MG promises with its all-new model. The brand is preparing to launch the RX9 PHEV in Egypt, marking its biggest vehicle yet for the local market and the latest contender in the midsize hybrid SUV segment.
Real Electric Range for Daily Use
The RX9 PHEV relies on a lithium iron phosphate battery with a net capacity of 23.2 kWh, delivering an electric driving range of roughly 100 kilometers. That figure covers typical city commutes without ever touching the gasoline engine, and the vehicle also supports Vehicle-to-Load technology, allowing owners to power external electrical devices straight from the battery.
Hybrid Powertrain with 299 Horsepower
Two motors work together under the hood. A 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine produces 142 horsepower and 230 Nm of torque, paired with an electric motor generating 231 horsepower and 390 Nm. Combined output reaches 299 horsepower, sent through a single-speed gearbox to the front wheels, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 9.6 seconds. Those performance figures place it firmly in the sporty family SUV category, with a top speed of 200 km/h.
Premium Cabin and Comprehensive Equipment
Inside, the RX9 PHEV in its top Premium trim offers a long list of features, including a panoramic sunroof and twin 12.3-inch displays for both infotainment and digital instrument cluster. Connectivity is covered with a wireless phone charger and full support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus ambient interior lighting and a power tailgate.
The Bose sound system in the top variant includes 12 speakers, compared to eight in the standard version. The range-topping trim also features a 360-degree surround-view camera with Transparent Chassis technology. That displays what lies beneath the vehicle during low-speed maneuvers—a feature typically reserved for more expensive models. These specifications make the SUV a strong contender in its class, although final details for the Egyptian market are yet to be officially confirmed.
