AI Hackathon 2026 Concludes at Kafrelsheikh University — Robotics and IoT Projects Take the Lead
Seven tech tracks brought together teams from Egyptian and Arab universities in one competition. The 2026 Innovation in Computing and AI Hackathon at Kafrelsheikh University wrapped up with winners announced across robotics, computer vision, IoT, AI for sustainability, and cybersecurity. The atmosphere at the event was electric.
Fields That Intersect with the Future of Transport and Industry
These domains carry weight far beyond the theoretical. Artificial intelligence, sensing technologies, computer vision. The Internet of Things have already penetrated industry, transport, and automotive sectors, where smart systems and automation are expanding rapidly. The ripple effect extends to intelligent driving systems and smarter fleet management.
Robotics and Computer Vision Lead the Pack
Robotics and computer vision emerged as the most contested track of the day. Canadian Ahram University claimed first place with '3D Nexus,' a project demonstrating advanced capability in image analysis and environmental interaction. Students delivered sophisticated solutions that bridge laboratory concepts and real-world industrial automation.
The competition in this track was fierce. Applications range from advanced driver-assistance systems to automated guided vehicles, showing a mature understanding of actual market requirements.
IoT and AI for Sustainability
The Internet of Things had its own moment in the spotlight. Damanhour University's 'Volt Smooth' team captured the top spot after rounds focused on device connectivity, data exchange, and practical digital solutions. Smart mobility depends on these technologies for traffic management, vehicle tracking, and predictive maintenance.
Sustainability intelligence sparked genuine creativity too. Badr University's 'Egypt Air' team won the AI for sustainability track, while Kafrelsheikh University led generative AI with the 'Muslem' project. Cybersecurity remained central — the New Cairo Technological University topped that track with 'SecuLab,' underscoring how critical system protection has become.
Applications Reaching Healthcare and Education
Winners weren't confined to purely technical categories. The Higher Institute of Management and Technology in Kafrelsheikh secured first place in AI for education with 'Edusphere,' while Sohag University dominated AI in healthcare with 'Smart Blood.' These results demonstrate how artificial intelligence now touches nearly every sector.
