Einride adds 500 Tesla electric trucks to its fleet amid strong growth outlook

Swedish transport technology company Einride has signed a deal to add 500 Tesla Semi electric trucks to its fleet. This massive expansion brings the company's total vehicles to about 750 trucks, with operations expected to begin in September. The numbers alone don't tell the full story.

The company expects revenue growth to accelerate in the second half of 2026, possibly exceeding double compared to the same period last year. This confidence is backed by a 26% revenue increase in the first half on a constant currency basis. Fleet expansion clearly includes the U.S. and European markets.

Deal details and financing

The deal is being financed through external financing parties, giving Einride flexibility without straining its operational budget. CEO Robert Charlie points out that the company can now source trucks to its exact specifications, notably Tesla Semi trucks, but the real challenge lies in fleet management software. This approach reflects a deeper strategy of integrating technology into every operation.

With Tesla added, Einride now relies on five to six truck suppliers, including Dutch company DAF. Diversifying sources gives the company greater ability to meet customer needs in different markets. Net losses widened in the first half, yet the company pushes forward toward its goals.

Growth targets through 2028

Einride aims to reach cash flow breakeven by 2028. The plan includes growing the fleet to between 1,500 and 2,000 trucks, a number triple the current level. Rapid growth in the Tesla fleet and other electric vehicles places the company on an ambitious path, but it comes with clear financial pressures.

The company bets that software and autonomous transport technologies will make the difference in operational efficiency. The U.S. and European markets are the first testing ground for this strategy, amid fierce competition from other transport companies. Einride's competitive edge may lie in its ability to customize vehicles precisely to customer needs.
