In a dangerous scene, trucks transporting watermelons and vegetables turn into 'moving bombs' due to negligent cargo securing. Unsecured loads can spill onto the asphalt, causing sudden accidents and severe losses, exposing drivers to fines of up to EGP 15,000 and a one-year license suspension.

Article 72 (bis 2)

Article (72 bis 2) of the Traffic Law stipulates that, without prejudice to any stricter penalty provided for in any other law, a fine of not less than EGP 5,000 and not exceeding EGP 15,000 shall be imposed on any vehicle driver who causes road pollution by dumping waste, construction debris, or any other objects. The same penalty applies to anyone who drives a vehicle that emits annoying sounds, thick smoke, non-environmentally compliant exhaust, or foul odors, or from whose cargo materials fly off, or from which flammable substances, substances harmful to public health, or substances affecting road usability leak, or from whose cargo anything falls that compromises road safety, poses a danger or harm to road users, or fails to securely fasten, tie down, and cover the cargo.

Doubled Fines

The article stiffens the penalty upon repeat violation, as the fine doubles if the same violation is committed within six months. A third repetition within one year leads to a one-year license suspension.

Electronic Monitoring and Intensive Campaigns

The General Traffic Department intensifies its campaigns on main roads and axes to monitor violating transport trucks, especially those that fail to secure their cargo or allow agricultural products to fall off while driving.

Traffic departments rely on a network of smart radars and patrols spread across the country to detect violations, enforce traffic discipline, and ensure the safety of road users.
