Traffic Congestion Map: Ring Road and Salah Salem Under Pressure in Cairo and Giza
Several major roads and axes in Cairo and Giza are experiencing varying traffic densities, ranging from moderate to high, with a noticeable slowdown in vehicle movement in some vital areas. Traffic services are heavily deployed to regulate movement and guide drivers to suitable alternatives.
Cairo: Ring Road and Salah Salem Lead the Congestion
The Ring Road, Salah Salem Axis, Corniche el-Nil, and Hadayek el-Kobba Bridge recorded high traffic volumes, with intermittent congestion due to increased densities during peak hours. The General Traffic Department recommended using alternative axes for the Ramses and Abbassia areas for those coming from and heading to East Cairo, amid slow movement in Heliopolis, Maadi, and Manial.
Downtown areas, Qasr el-Aini, and the Azhar Tunnel experienced high traffic densities, while the Salah Salem Axis saw a noticeable slowdown along several of its sectors. High densities also appeared on the Corniche el-Nil heading toward Maspero and Al-Moassa, while traffic flow was relatively regular on the Autostrad Axis.
Giza: Scattered Congestion in Mohandessin and Agouza
The Mohandessin and Agouza areas witnessed scattered congestion due to increased traffic volumes on main streets and axes, while moderate densities appeared on the Haram and Remaya axes. The Safa el-Laban, Faisal, Tawabik axes, Giza Square, Sudan Street, and Bein el-Sarayat area recorded high traffic volumes and slow vehicle movement, especially in areas with commercial and service densities.
