Motorcycle Registrations Drop 19.08% in July After June Surge
The numbers tell a clear story. Motorcycles that received compulsory insurance certificates and were registered during July 2026 totaled 35,168 units, compared to 43,461 in June. The difference stands at 8,293 motorcycles, a decline of 19.08%.
Monthly Decline Breakdown
This drop follows a June that saw a strong surge of 41.94%, meaning the market has lost a significant portion of its previous gains. A sector that was beginning to move forcefully has returned to a slower pace.
The report from the Egyptian Compulsory Vehicle Insurance Pool showed the decline affected all categories, but the details reveal something interesting: newer motorcycles still dominate the market. July registrations broke down as 478 units from model year 2023, 762 from 2024, 5,478 from 2025, 28,447 from 2026, and just 3 units from model year 2027.
What This Means for the Market
The standout figure is the dominance of 2026 models, which captured the largest share of the total. This suggests demand for new motorcycles remains relatively strong, yet the overall decline points to a cautious mood in the market.
Motorcycles in Egypt serve as a primary transport option for a wide segment of the population, particularly in congested cities where traffic jams are a daily reality. Any drop in registrations reflects shifts in purchasing power or consumer behavior toward this type of vehicle.
The comparison between the two months is clear: June's strong growth did not last, and the July decline represents roughly one-fifth of the monthly total. The market moves on a volatile rhythm, and the key question remains: will this decline continue in August or will growth return?
