Egypt's Minister of Industry called on heads of diplomatic missions heading abroad to promote the country's industrial plans and priorities. The meeting conveyed a clear message.

Focus on Electric Vehicles

The minister stressed that the ministry is focusing on several key files, most notably deepening the automotive industry, particularly electric vehicles, expanding the base of small and medium factories that will eventually produce large ones, and enhancing local product quality and competitiveness in external markets through localizing technical tests and certification. The message is clear: EVs top the agenda.

He also pointed to the ministry's efforts to achieve industrial integration with African countries, benefiting both Egypt and the continent's peoples. This move could open new export avenues for Egyptian-made cars across Africa.

Strategy 2030 to Boost Exports

The minister explained that the Ministry of Industry has updated the Egypt Industrial Strategy 2030 to increase exports by attracting global investments linked to technology transfer and industrial expertise, shifting toward integration with the global economy and international production chains, and cementing Egypt's position as a regional industrial hub capable of reaching global markets. Egypt aims to become a major player regionally.

He focused on priority industries, enabling industries, strategic industries, complementary industries, and circular economy and recycling industries. The priority industries targeted by Egypt include car manufacturing, whether conventional combustion-engine vehicles or new-energy electric and hybrid cars, as well as automotive components. This vision could reshape the local industry landscape.

The minister's appeal to diplomatic missions isn't merely a request; it's a comprehensive strategy to open new markets for Egyptian products. The question remains: will these efforts turn Egypt into a regional EV manufacturing hub? Time will tell.
