Local Assembly Drives Egypt's Bus Sales Growth by 91.6% in 5 Months
The numbers are striking. Bus sales across Egypt have surged 91.6% in the first five months of the current year, reaching 6,576 vehicles compared to just 3,433 units in the same period of 2024. The market is experiencing a real boom.
Domestic Production Leads the Charge
The biggest driver behind this explosive growth is the increased reliance on locally manufactured buses. These units accounted for 5,432 sales—a 91.5% leap from 3,168 units in the corresponding period of 2024. It's a strategic shift that tells a clear story about market priorities.
Yet the imported segment still has a story to tell. Sales of imported buses more than quadrupled—up 331%—yet they only managed 1,144 units compared to 265. The home team is still dominating the field.
Looking Under the Hood
A month-by-month breakdown reveals even more about this sector's dynamics. Official data shows monthly performance varies significantly—some months recorded massive leaps—but the overall trajectory leaves little room for doubt. Demand for mass transit in Egypt is on a steady rise, covering both public and private transport sectors.
It doesn't stop with passenger buses. The numbers also cover tourism buses and school transport vehicles. This is a multi-front market movement. Local manufacturers are expanding production lines, driven by both demand and a currency crisis that makes imports tougher. The results speak volumes.
