King Long Leads Egypt's Bus Market with Over 31% Market Share
The numbers tell the story. King Long has claimed the top spot in Egypt's bus market during the first five months of this year, capturing a 31.1% market share with 2,042 vehicles sold. The data comes from the latest report issued by Egypt's Automotive Market Information Council.
Fierce Competition in the Top Five
Golden Dragon secured second place with a 16.3% share, selling 1,072 units. A significant gap separates the leader from the runner-up. Toyota ranked third with 15.8% and 1,036 buses — just 36 vehicles behind Golden Dragon. The margin is razor-thin at this level.
Chenergy landed in fourth place with 8.1% and 535 buses. Chevrolet followed in fifth at 7.1% with 466 units. Mitsubishi came sixth with a 6.4% share and 424 vehicles. The middle of the pack shows intense competition, but the top remains out of reach for now.
Lower Ranks and Specialist Brands
Foton placed seventh with 5.3% and 349 buses. Suzuki ranked eighth with the exact same market share — 5.3% — and the same number of vehicles at 349 units. This rare statistical tie highlights the fierce rivalry between these two Chinese brands in Egypt's bus segment.
Mercedes MCV landed in tenth place with a 3.1% share and 205 vehicles. Foton EIM came eleventh at just 0.5%, selling only 35 units. Chinese brands now dominate Egypt's bus market, leaving traditional European and Japanese players trailing far behind in overall volume.
