Cairo's Ibrahim Pasha Street Development: EGP 20M Project Opening in 2027
The Ministry of Local Development announced a EGP 20 million renovation project for Ibrahim Pasha Street in Korba, Heliopolis. Egypt's Minister of Local Development and Environment, Dr. Manal Awad, announced the start of renovation work on Ibrahim Pasha Street in the Korba district of Heliopolis, with a budget of approximately 20 million EGP fully funded by the ministry. The project, coordinated with the Cairo Governorate, aims to preserve the area's distinctive architectural character and turn the street into an attractive tourist and commercial destination.
Scope of the Ibrahim Pasha Street renovation
The work includes upgrading the entire basic infrastructure, covering electricity, gas, water, and telecommunications networks. The facades of 13 buildings will also be renovated, along with flooring, landscaping, new lighting poles, and seating areas, ensuring seamless integration between utility upgrades and the street's visual appeal.
Around 300 meters of the street will be transformed into a pedestrian-only zone. The new design features wider sidewalks, green spaces, bicycle lanes. Seating, plus an open area for restaurants. The goal is to provide a more organized and comfortable space for residents and visitors while boosting commercial activity in the neighborhood.
Opening date and expected impact
The minister confirmed the project will be completed and opened to the public during the New Year 2027 celebrations. She noted that the ministry will continue monitoring the implementation in coordination with the Cairo Governorate to preserve the area's architectural and cultural character and achieve the development goals.
The transformation is expected to make Ibrahim Pasha Street a tourist destination befitting the history of Heliopolis.
