Geely Tops New EV Registrations in July as 2,288 Electric Vehicles Hit Egyptian Roads
The numbers are striking. Egypt's automotive market recorded 2,288 newly registered electric vehicles during July 2026, based on mandatory insurance policy data from the local insurers' pool. Of that total, fully electric cars account for the lion's share with 1,644 units.
Geely Takes the Lead for the First Time
For the first time ever, Geely tops the list of the most-registered EV brands with 225 units. The runner-up spot is shared equally between Rox and Dipall, each with 122 cars, while Nissan takes fourth place with 114 units and BYD rounds out the top five at 110.
These figures reveal a fiercely competitive landscape. The rank order signals a striking shift in buyer preference toward brands that were barely on the radar just two years ago. Another Chinese marque climbing to the front proves the game has changed.
From the Midfield to the Tail — Every Unit Counts
It doesn't stop at the top. DFSK logged 87 registrations, followed by Forting with 74, then Zeekr at 69, Xpeng at 52, and MG4 at 49. The list also carries familiar European and luxury names — Mercedes registered 42 units, BMW 41. Avatar closes the ranking with 37.
Seeing legacy names like Mercedes and BMW among the most-registered EV brands draws attention, yet it's no surprise to anyone tracking this market's momentum. The gaps between several brands remain razor-thin, hinting at fierce battles for every single customer in the months ahead.
