Dr. Manal Awad, Egypt's Minister of Local Development and Environment, announced the launch of development works at Gedila Station in Mansoura, transforming it into an integrated modern transport hub at a cost exceeding EGP 48 million. The project is part of the state's plan to upgrade major stations and improve the public transport system in Dakahlia Governorate.

The minister confirmed that the project aims to enhance the efficiency of local transport and eliminate informal stations. The new facility will accommodate 205 vehicles daily, including 185 microbuses and 20 service cars, serving 10 internal routes across the governorate.

The project is fully funded by the Ministry of Local Development and Environment's budget, with a total cost of EGP 48.05 million, implemented through the Central Agency for Reconstruction. The site was handed over in February 2026, and construction is scheduled to be completed within 12 months, with operations expected to begin in February 2027.

Spanning an area of 7,385 square meters, the development includes organized walls along Imam Muhammad Abduh Street, vehicle control through five main gates, and metal canopies covering parking areas. These measures aim to reduce traffic congestion and improve traffic flow in surrounding areas.

The hub will also feature a comprehensive service building with restrooms, security and monitoring rooms, fire pump rooms, and civil protection networks. Additionally, it will provide modern waiting areas for passengers and future spaces for cafeterias and ancillary services.

Dr. Awad emphasized that this project represents a qualitative leap in improving traffic services and upgrading public transport infrastructure in Dakahlia, aligning with the government's broader strategy to modernize local transport systems across Egypt's governorates.
