Expert: Regional Tensions Threaten Automotive Supply Chains in Egypt, Warning of Price Hikes
Gamal Fahim, a sales and marketing expert in the automotive sector, has warned of the potential repercussions of current regional tensions on the Egyptian car market, anticipating that the effects could begin to materialize in the coming months.
Fahim explained that the automotive industry relies heavily on global supply and shipping chains, making it highly sensitive to any geopolitical or logistical disruptions that may affect international trade routes.
Impact on Imported and Locally Assembled Vehicles
The expert expects imported vehicles to be the most directly impacted due to the anticipated rise in shipping and maritime transport costs, which could prompt car dealerships to reprice their models. These repercussions are also expected to extend to locally assembled cars, given their reliance on imported components and spare parts for production lines.
In this context, Fahim confirmed that the local market has not yet witnessed inflationary waves or sharp price hikes, thanks to the fierce competition among various automotive brands. However, he stressed that the prolongation of regional tensions could lead to bottlenecks in car supply, paving the way for price increases in the near future.
