Egyptian National Railways Adds Sleeper and AC Trains to Marsa Matrouh for Summer
The Egyptian National Railways (ENR) has announced the addition of sleeper and air-conditioned trains on the Cairo / Marsa Matrouh route ahead of the summer season, aiming to facilitate tourist travel and boost domestic tourism. This initiative follows directives from Eng. Mohamed Amer, Chairman of ENR.
Train services will begin on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, according to the following schedule:
Cairo to Marsa Matrouh
Train 1933 / 1934 (Third-Class AC): Departs Cairo at 23:10, arriving in Marsa Matrouh at 07:00 the following day, daily from June 10, 2026.
Train 773 / 772: Departs Cairo at 22:05, arriving at 05:40 the next morning. Operates Saturdays / Mondays / Wednesdays with 4 sleeper cars + 4 second-class Spanish upgraded AC cars, and Sundays / Tuesdays / Thursdays with first-class AC + second-class Spanish upgraded AC cars, starting June 20, 2026.
Train 939 / 940 (Third-Class AC): Departs Cairo at 05:50, arriving at 13:35, daily from July 11, 2026.
Marsa Matrouh to Cairo
Train 1935 / 1936 (Third-Class AC): Departs Marsa Matrouh at 13:40, arriving in Cairo at 20:55, daily from June 11, 2026.
Train 775 / 774: Departs Marsa Matrouh at 22:30, arriving in Cairo at 05:35 the next morning. Operates Sundays / Tuesdays / Thursdays with 4 sleeper cars + 4 second-class Spanish upgraded AC cars, and Mondays / Wednesdays / Fridays with first-class AC + second-class Spanish upgraded AC cars, starting June 21, 2026.
Train 943 / 942 (Third-Class AC): Departs Marsa Matrouh at 21:00, arriving in Cairo at 04:15 the following day, daily from July 11, 2026.
This expansion is part of ENR's efforts to accommodate the increasing number of summer travelers while providing a safe and comfortable railway experience between Cairo and Marsa Matrouh.
