The Egyptian Touring and Automobile Club (ATCE) has launched the first official training sessions for the Auto Slalom championship, a zigzag speed racing event, in collaboration with Old School Team. The training took place at the car market premises on the Ain Sokhna Road, serving as a preparatory step to introduce the championship to Egypt for the first time, in accordance with the regulations and rules of the International Automobile Federation (FIA).

Wide Participation from Professional and Amateur Drivers

The training saw the participation of 27 drivers from various age groups, including a mix of professional and amateur competitors. The goal was to familiarize drivers with the nature of the competition and gain practical experience in an environment simulating official races, thereby enhancing skill levels and discovering new talent in Egyptian motorsport.

Comprehensive Training Program According to FIA Standards

The training program included setting up the race track and drawing the circuit according to the technical standards approved by the FIA. This was followed by an introductory meeting with participants to explain the championship rules, instructions, and safety procedures. Practical car trials then began under the official competition system, with times recorded to enable competitors to test their abilities in conditions similar to real races.

Wael Abdel Jalil, Deputy General Manager of the Egyptian Touring and Automobile Club, stated that the Auto Slalom race represents a new addition to motorsport in Egypt. He noted that the club is working to implement it according to international standards approved by the FIA, which will help expand the participant base and attract new talent.

Training Objectives: Skill Enhancement and Safety Promotion

Abdel Jalil added that the primary goal of these training sessions is to raise the skill level of drivers and familiarize them with competition rules, alongside enhancing safety and security elements within races. He emphasized that this experience represents the first phase towards launching a full-fledged championship in the coming period.

For his part, Shady Osama, founder of Old School Team and organizer of the championship, explained that the Auto Slalom race is based on competition on a single track divided into two lanes for each competitor. The driver completes the first round on one side, then moves to the other side of the track for the second round, with the best time recorded determining the final result.

Qualification for the International Motorsport Games

Osama pointed out that these training sessions aim to prepare drivers for participation in the main championship and achieve the best results during its rounds. He revealed that the top 4 drivers in the overall standings (two men and two women) will qualify to represent Egypt in the FIA Motorsport Games international championship, scheduled to be held at the end of the year.
