Egypt's New Car Registrations Drop 9.9% in July
The numbers are clear. The Egyptian Motor Third-Party Insurance Pool reported a 9.87% decline in new 'zero' vehicles that received mandatory insurance policies and were registered during July 2026, reaching approximately 63,541 vehicles. The market is cooling down.
Breakdown by Model Year
The report revealed that registered vehicles during July were distributed by model year as follows: 1,136 vehicles from 2023, 1,611 from 2024, and 6,909 from 2025. The largest share went to 2026 models with 40,158 vehicles, followed by 2027 models with 13,727 units. Demand is clearly shifting towards the newest lineup.
Private Cars Rise 6.2%
In the private car segment, the number of cars that received mandatory insurance and were registered hit 22,453 units in July, marking a 6.19% increase month-over-month. New 2027 models dominated private car registrations with 10,261 units, followed by 2026 models at 9,577 units. Buyers looking for a new vehicle are gravitating toward the latest model years, leaving older stock behind.
Motorcycles Slump 19%
Motorcycle registrations with mandatory insurance fell 19.08% on a monthly basis in July, totaling around 35,168 bikes. According to the report, registered motorcycles included 28,447 units from 2026, 5,478 from 2025, and 762 from 2024. The two-wheeler sector shows a sharp contraction.
Trucks See Marginal Decline
Truck registrations reached 3,397 vehicles in July, a slight drop of just 0.96% compared to the previous month. These registrations included 2,399 trucks from 2027, 765 from 2026, and 162 from 2025. The segment remains largely stable.
The overall picture points to a slowing new-car market, with private cars showing relative resilience. Egyptian consumers are weighing their options with more caution, balancing budgets against the appeal of newer models.
