Egypt's Industry Ministry Reveals New Plan to Boost Car Sales with Lower Prices
Egypt's Ministry of Industry has unveiled a new strategy to expand local vehicle production, with a sharp focus on reducing prices for buyers. Engineer Alaa Salah El-Din, who heads the automotive unit and oversees the national program for developing the industry, made it clear that production volume is the real lever for cost reduction.
New incentives for suppliers and buyers
The ministry is working hand-in-hand with the Finance Ministry on fresh incentives for the feeder industries that shape production costs. It's a supply-chain play as much as a manufacturing one.
The initiative targets private cars, taxis, and smart transport vehicles. Specific production targets were not disclosed.
More output, lower costs
Manufacturer interest in the plan is already strong, according to the official, who noted that countries with robust automotive sectors keep expanding output to cut per-vehicle costs. That logic flows directly into the sticker price.
Electric vehicles will be part of this transition, with a goal of increasing their presence in the local market. The dual push toward scale and electrification marks a significant strategic shift.
