Electric vehicles are at the heart of the new government plan. Engineer Khaled Hashem, Minister of Industry, confirmed that deepening electric car manufacturing tops the ministry's agenda for the coming phase.

Priorities for Local Manufacturing

The minister emphasized expanding the base of small and medium industries, preparing them to grow into larger industrial entities. He also outlined plans to improve the quality of local products and boost their competitiveness in foreign markets — a goal that demands a solid technical testing framework.

During a meeting with Egyptian diplomatic mission heads transferred to work abroad, attended by Dr. Ahmed Osama, supervisor of the minister's technical office, Hashem stressed the importance of localizing technical testing and accreditation systems. The objective is clear: raise the quality of Egyptian products and increase their global competitiveness.

The Updated 2030 Strategy

Hashem revealed an updated Egyptian industrial strategy for 2030, aimed at boosting industrial growth rates and increasing exports. The strategy also targets attracting global investments tied to technology transfer and expertise, while cementing Egypt's position as a regional industrial hub.

The strategy divides industries into five main groups: priority industries, enablers, strategic industries, complementary industries, and circular economy and recycling sectors. This classification provides a clear roadmap for the coming years.

On the social front, the minister announced the "Productive Villages" initiative, which aims to establish 100 small factories in villages within three years. The initiative targets creating direct job opportunities and reducing migration — a vital file for the local economy.

Clean Energy and Investment

The minister also addressed clean energy, pointing to the "Industry Sun" initiative to set up solar power stations inside factories to cut costs. the ministry launched a unified digital system to support manufacturers, providing nine mechanisms for offering industrial land via the "Egyptian Digital Industrial Platform", along with a lease-to-own system for small and medium projects.

In a new financing step, Hashem revealed the launch of industrial investment funds with citizen participation, with the first fund expected to start operating next September. This opens the door for broader public involvement in national industry.

The minister concluded by emphasizing the role of Egyptian embassies abroad as a gateway for attracting investments and technology, especially from advanced small and medium enterprises. The ultimate goal is clear: deepen local manufacturing and increase the local component across all sectors, particularly in the automotive sector, which is undergoing a radical transformation.
