Egypt's Commercial Vehicle Sector Holds Steady as Chevrolet Dominates Licensing Charts
The sector held its ground. Egypt's commercial vehicle licensing remained stable in July, recording 3,397 registrations compared to 3,430 in June — a marginal 0.96% dip that outperformed every other segment in a month marked by overall market decline. The numbers point to sustained demand for commercial vehicles and a thriving logistics and services sector.
Chevrolet Maintains an Iron Grip
The gap is staggering. Chevrolet's dominance came as no surprise, with the American marque registering 2,425 vehicles in July — capturing a commanding 71.4% of the segment's total licensing. Mitsubishi finished second with just 132 units, followed closely by Toyota at 130, Mercedes-Benz at 86, and Nissan at 55 — a clear illustration of the chasm separating the leader from its rivals.
But what does this say about the market? The appetite is clearly shifting toward newer models. Data shows registrations for 2027 model-year vehicles jumping to 2,399 units, a 6.2% increase, while 2026 models fell to 765 registrations — a 16.8% drop. Companies are refreshing their fleets and moving decisively toward latest-generation offerings.
The Real Battle Is for Second Place
The takeaway from July's figures is that the fight is no longer about the top spot. Chevrolet has cemented a lead that looks unbreakable, while the real challenge for Mitsubishi, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, and Nissan lies in narrowing the gap and growing their share in a market that knows exactly who leads — and who's chasing.
