The Egyptian Automobile and Touring Club has launched the first official training sessions for the "Auto Slalom" championship, a slalom speed racing event held for the first time in Egypt under the regulations of the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). The training was organized in collaboration with the "Old School" team and took place at the car market area on the Ain Sokhna road.

Wide participation and intensive preparations

The training saw the participation of 27 drivers from various age groups, aiming to familiarize them with the nature of the competition and gain practical experience. The program included setting up the race track and drawing the course according to FIA technical standards, followed by an introductory meeting with participants to explain the rules, instructions, and safety procedures, before starting the practical car trials under the official competition system.

A new addition to motorsports in Egypt

Wael Abdel Jalil, Deputy General Manager of the Egyptian Automobile and Touring Club, stated that the Auto Slalom race represents a new addition to motorsports in Egypt, noting that the club is working to implement it according to international standards approved by the FIA. He added that the main goal of the training is to raise the skill level of drivers and introduce them to competition rules, in addition to enhancing safety and security elements within the races, emphasizing that this experience represents the first phase toward launching a full-fledged championship in the coming period.

Race mechanism and competition

Shady Osama, founder of the Old School team and organizer of the championship, explained that the Auto Slalom race is based on competition on a single track divided into two lanes for each driver. The driver completes the first run in one lane, then moves to the other lane for the second run, with the best time recorded to determine the winner.
