Chery Captures 29% of Locally Assembled Car Sales in May
The numbers tell the story. Chery captured 29% of Egypt's locally assembled car market in May, according to the latest AMIC report. The Chinese automaker sold 1,643 units, leaving every rival trailing behind in a market defined by fierce competition.

Nissan came second with a 26% market share. A narrow gap. The Japanese brand recorded 1,472 vehicles during the same month. Hyundai ranked third at 17% with 992 units. Three brands now dominate over 70 percent of the entire assembled-vehicle segment.
Chevrolet followed in fourth place with a 10% share and 576 cars. Changan took fifth at 8% with 452 units. The number feels low for another Chinese player, but still gives it a clear competitive position in this fragmented market.
Scraps at the Bottom
Haval landed sixth at 6% with just 319 vehicles sold. Toyota placed seventh with a meager 2% share and only 110 units. A tiny percentage for a global giant. Yet Egypt's market follows its own logic entirely.
