Moderate Traffic Congestion on Cairo and Giza Main Roads This Morning
Most main roads and key axes in Cairo and Giza governorates witnessed moderate traffic congestion this morning during peak hours. The General Traffic Administration deployed traffic services to secure the flow of traffic, regulate movement, and guide drivers to alternative routes to reduce congestion and shorten travel times.
Key Congestion Hotspots in Cairo
The Traffic Operations Room reported heavy congestion on the 6th of October Bridge in both directions, recommending the use of the ground-level road as an alternative to reduce travel time. Shobra Street also experienced high traffic volumes, prompting authorities to suggest Ahmed Helmy Axis as an alternative route. Ongoing maintenance work caused congestion on the Ring Road for those coming from Al-Moassasa towards Al-Marj, and for those coming from Al-Munib towards the Autostrad, as well as on the Maryouteya Link in the direction of Al-Munib.
Al-Salam Street recorded moving congestion for vehicles coming from Al-Azhar Park to Al-Firdous Bridge, while traffic slowed in Nasr City, Heliopolis, and Ain Shams, passing through Ghamra to Ramses Square and Al-Galaa Intersection. The Ghamra Bridge saw heavy congestion, with recommendations to use Ahmed Said Tunnel or Deir Al-Malak Axis as alternatives. Traffic also slowed on the Autostrad for those coming from Al-Munib to Al-Basateen, on the Nile Corniche in the Maadi area up to the Ring Road, and on Qasr Al-Aini Street.
Ring Road and New Cairo Congestion
The Operations Room recorded heavy congestion on the Ring Road heading towards Katameya and the Central Plateau, along with traffic jams at the Al-Marj Ring Road area for those coming from the Agricultural Road towards the Salam Tunnel, and inside the tunnel for those coming from other governorates to Cairo. In contrast, 90th Street in the Fifth Settlement showed moderate congestion for those coming from the Ring Road towards the Downtown area. Abbas Bridge and University Bridge both saw heavy congestion heading towards Al-Mesaha Square.
Traffic Conditions in Giza
In Giza Governorate, moderate traffic congestion was observed on Al-Haram, Al-Bahr Al-Azam, and Al-Nil Al-Seyahi streets, as well as at the Ring Road exits towards Upper Egypt and Al-Warraq, and the Maryouteya Link. Vehicle movement also slowed on Faisal Street, particularly in the Tawabik area, and on Sudan Street up to Cairo University. Traffic services were deployed to facilitate movement and direct motorists toward alternative routes to avoid expected congestion during the evening peak hours.
