First Ship Carries 5,000 Cars from Singapore
The vessel "UGR" arrived from the port of Singapore carrying 5,000 cars, alongside the vessel "Sven Prosper" arriving from King Abdullah Port in Saudi Arabia with 2,642 containers.
Safaga 2 Terminal Can Handle 50,000 Cars Annually
The new terminal boasts an annual capacity of 50,000 vehicles, along with handling approximately 450,000 standard containers, with a maximum capacity of 2 million containers. It can also process 5 million tons of general and dry cargo, expandable to 7 million tons, plus 1 million tons of liquid cargo.
Spanning an area of 776,000 square meters, the terminal features a quay stretching 1,100 meters in length with a depth of 17 meters, and is equipped with 3 giant ship-to-shore cranes and 6 yard cranes for container handling.
Terminal is Part of the Safaga-Qena-Abu Tartur Logistics Corridor
Safaga 2 terminal is a key component of the integrated logistics corridor (Safaga – Qena – Abu Tartur), one of eight international logistics corridors being implemented by Egypt to transform the country into a regional hub for transport, logistics, and transit trade. The terminal also serves as the main gateway for the development of Upper Egypt.
