After EGP 100K Price Hikes: 4 Used Car Alternatives Under EGP 700K
Egypt's car market saw price increases on 33 new models ranging from EGP 20,000 to EGP 100,000, affecting Hyundai, Haval, Chery, Cupra and Seat. The Cupra Formentor VZ rose EGP 81,000 to EGP 2.67 million. These hikes pushed budget-limited buyers toward the used market, where the Hyundai Accent RB and Chevrolet Optra offer options under EGP 700,000.
Prices for 33 new car models in the Egyptian market jumped between EGP 20,000 and EGP 100,000 in the past few hours, pushing budget-conscious buyers to reconsider their options. Hyundai, Haval, Chery, BYD, Citroen, Cupra and Seat were among the affected brands. The sharpest increase hit the Cupra Formentor VZ, up EGP 81,000 from EGP 2.589 million to EGP 2.67 million.
Why Used Cars Are Back in Focus
The new prices have outstripped many buyers' budgets. Hyundai prices in the new-car segment pushed some shoppers toward cheaper alternatives. The used market has become the first refuge for those with under EGP 1 million. Still, higher new-car prices don't automatically mean equally higher used prices — comparison is now essential before buying.
Hyundai Accent RB — The Economical Pick
Model years 2007 to 2011 of the Hyundai Accent RB range between EGP 300,000 and EGP 490,000. Pricing depends on condition, model year and trim level. It's a practical car with widely available spare parts.
Chevrolet Optra — The Family Sedan
Model years 2013 to 2021 of the Chevrolet Optra are available between EGP 430,000 and EGP 520,000. The price gap depends on model year, condition and trim. It offers decent interior space and reasonable fuel consumption.
More Alternatives Under EGP 700K
Beyond the Accent and Optra, other models exist in the used car market under EGP 700,000. Kia and Nissan offer options in the economy sedan segment, while slightly newer models sit at higher prices. The choice comes down to priorities: fuel economy, space or model year.
Choosing Between New and Used
Repeated new-car price hikes make used cars a logical choice for many. But thorough inspection, service history and mileage remain decisive factors. Never buy a used car without a full inspection.
