As the Eid al-Adha holiday ends and millions prepare to return to work on Monday, many vehicles face the risk of unexpected breakdowns on the road during the first working day, following holiday trips that have taken a toll on their mechanical condition.

Post-Trip Maintenance Overlooked

Hamada al-Safti, manager of a car maintenance center, says that most car owners focus on preparing their vehicles for the trip before Eid, but often neglect to inspect them after returning from exhausting journeys that can negatively affect the car's condition.

He noted that long trips and continuous driving for hours between governorates impact many vehicle components. Some faults do not appear during the trip itself, but gradually emerge after returning to daily routine use.

Minor Issues Can Become Costly Breakdowns

Al-Safti added that neglecting post-holiday maintenance can turn minor problems into sudden and expensive breakdowns, especially during the first week back at work when the car is relied upon heavily for daily commuting.

Tips to Avoid Sudden Failures

Al-Safti advised checking the tires for safety and proper air pressure, along with reviewing oil and fluid levels and ensuring the battery is in good condition to prevent unexpected breakdowns.

The maintenance center manager also stressed the importance of inspecting brakes, lights, and wipers, having a functional fire extinguisher inside the car, and checking the spare tire to ensure it is ready for use when needed, along with verifying that tire-changing tools are available in the vehicle.

He emphasized the need to fill the fuel tank before departure, choose a suitable driving time that matches the driver's physical condition and concentration ability, avoid using mobile phones while driving, adhere to traffic rules, and follow traffic bulletins to choose the least congested and safest routes.
