Mercedes-Maybach GLS 680 2027 Redefines Ultimate Luxury in the SUV Segment
Mercedes-Maybach has raised the bar in the ultra-luxury SUV segment with the unveiling of the new 2027 GLS 680, featuring comprehensive updates in design, performance, and technology. The model focuses on delivering a quieter, more luxurious driving experience, preparing to challenge the likes of Rolls-Royce and Bentley by reaffirming its design and technological presence.
More Striking Design Identity
The car boasts a more commanding design identity, featuring a new front grille with an illuminated frame bearing the Maybach signature, along with headlights incorporating rose gold details. A glowing Mercedes star on the hood is also available as an option. The rear section receives a redesigned light cluster and tailgate, giving the vehicle a more distinctive appearance. Mercedes has also added new wheel options, starting with standard 22-inch wheels, with the possibility of selecting 23-inch wheels.
Maybach's exclusive personalization programs offer a wide range of two-tone paint options and bespoke finishes targeting customers seeking vehicles with a unique character. These updates underscore the brand's commitment to delivering exceptional products tailored to the tastes of elite clientele worldwide.
Unprecedented Interior Luxury
The cabin interior continues Maybach's philosophy of absolute luxury, featuring the new MB.OS operating system with the MBUX Superscreen extending across the dashboard. Premium leather materials, executive rear seats with leg massage functions for the first time, a Burmester 3D audio system, a built-in refrigerator, and entertainment screens for second-row passengers complete the package, making the interior experience akin to a luxury living room on wheels.
These technologies harmonize with an atmosphere of quiet and exceptional sound insulation, as acoustic engineering focused on reducing noise and vibrations inside the cabin, whether on highways or within the city. This approach meets the expectations of customers who prioritize comfort and privacy above all else.
Powerful Performance with V8 Mild Hybrid Engine
In terms of performance, the GLS 680 is powered by a 4.0-liter V8 engine equipped with twin turbochargers, supported by a 48-volt mild hybrid system. It generates 603 horsepower and 850 Nm of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Mercedes confirms that the new engine delivers smoother performance with reduced vibrations and noise inside the cabin.
To enhance ride comfort, the vehicle features an advanced air suspension system with E-Active Body Control technology, capable of reading the road ahead and adjusting the suspension before reaching bumps and curves. The steering system has also been refined to increase response speed and improve stability, whether on highways or during off-road driving.
Market Arrival and Price Expectations
Although Mercedes has not yet announced an official price, expectations suggest the vehicle will start at over $200,000, with global market availability before the end of this year. This new version marks a milestone in Maybach's journey, combining precise German engineering with the accustomed Middle Eastern luxury.
