Al-Arab Al-Sewedy Investments, the local distributor for Omoda and Jaecoo in Egypt, has launched the Jaecoo J7 PHEV in a single SMART trim priced at EGP 1.94 million. The plug-in hybrid SUV marks a fresh push by the Chinese brand into Egypt's growing electrified vehicle segment, and it arrives with a spec sheet that targets both performance and efficiency.
Jaecoo J7 PHEV Powertrain and Performance
Under the hood, the Jaecoo J7 PHEV pairs a 1.5-liter turbocharged petrol engine with an 18.4 kWh battery, a DHT hybrid transmission, and a front-wheel-drive setup. Total output is rated at 279 horsepower, while maximum torque reaches 365 Nm. Electric-only range is quoted at 100 kilometers, enough to cover daily urban commutes without burning a drop of fuel.
The SUV supports DC fast charging at up to 40 kW, taking the battery from 30% to 80% in just 20 minutes. Standard AC charging at 6.6 kW requires about 200 minutes to go from 30% to 100%. Those figures make the J7 PHEV a practical proposition for buyers who want plug-in hybrid flexibility without long charging stops.
Dimensions, Safety, and Market Positioning
Measuring 4500 mm long, 1865 mm wide. 1680 mm tall, with a 2672 mm wheelbase, the Jaecoo J7 PHEV seats five passengers. It rides on 19-inch wheels and features an independent rear suspension. That should help stability and comfort on Egypt's mixed road surfaces. Safety kit includes seven airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a broad suite of driver-assistance features.
That suite covers adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. A 540-degree surround-view camera, front and rear parking sensors, front and rear radar. A dash cam are all standard. LED headlights and taillights round out the modern exterior look.
At EGP 1.94 million, the Jaecoo J7 PHEV goes head-to-head with other plug-in hybrids in the Egyptian market, offering strong output and a generous electric range for the money. Al-Arab Al-Sewedy is using this launch to strengthen the Jaecoo brand's presence in the eco-friendly vehicle space, a direction that aligns with the global shift toward electrification. The car is available now from the local distributor in a single trim, simplifying the buying decision for customers.
