A classic rally car, the Lada 2105 VFTS model year 1981, has appeared for sale on an e-commerce platform in Germany, priced at €63,000 — equivalent to approximately 3.5 million Egyptian pounds, before any additional fees or charges. Although Lada cars have long been associated with the traditional image of simple Soviet vehicles, this particular variant is entirely different, having been transformed into a rare rally car with a racing pedigree and an engine tuned to deliver nearly double the power of the original version.

A History in Rally Racing

The car began its life as a standard Lada 2105, also known as the Lada Riva, before undergoing a comprehensive transformation in the mid-1980s to become the Lada 2105 VFTS rally version. After its modification, the car competed in the Austrian Rally Championship from 1985 to 1989, equipped with the necessary racing gear and a certification confirming its road legality and competition readiness.

Documented Restoration After Years in Storage

Following its rally career, the car remained stored in a garage in Austria for many years, until its current owner purchased it in 2018 and began a restoration process with the help of classic rally car specialists. In 2020, the vehicle received a historic technical passport from the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), which significantly enhances its value among collectors of classic racing cars.

Double the Power of the Original

The car is powered by a naturally aspirated 1.6-liter petrol engine, but it has been modified with twin Weber carburetors and a high-flow air intake system. Thanks to these upgrades, engine output has increased from around 75 horsepower in the standard version to 128 horsepower — impressive figures for a lightweight classic car weighing just 920 kilograms. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox, paired with a Torsen limited-slip differential, equipment well-suited for rally driving.

1980s Rally Styling

The car features unmistakable 1980s rally aesthetics, including wide wheel arches, a large front bumper, a small ducktail rear spoiler, additional spotlights, and lightweight plastic windows. It also rides on five-spoke alloy wheels that complement its aggressive motorsport stance, making it a truly unique piece for classic car collectors and rally enthusiasts alike.
