Hyundai and Kia EV Sales Surpass 131,000 Units in Europe
Hyundai and Kia have announced combined electric vehicle sales exceeding 131,000 units in Europe during the first half of this year. The numbers are striking. The two Korean automakers confirmed selling 131,032 EVs in the first six months of 2026, a sharp 41.8% increase from 92,365 EVs in the same period last year.
Top-Selling Models
The Kia EV3 SUV led the charge with 27,121 units sold, followed by the Hyundai Inster SUV with 16,594 units. The Kia EV4 sedan claimed the third spot with 14,502 units. This strong performance across three distinct models highlights growing consumer appetite for practical EVs in the European market.
Looking at the Numbers
Projections suggest annual sales could top 200,000 units for the first time since both brands entered the European market in 2014. That level remains unprecedented. The two companies had already surpassed the 100,000-unit annual mark in 2021, with combined sales climbing steadily to 183,912 units in 2025. This sustained growth reflects a clear strategy to solidify their position in a region increasingly committed to electric mobility.
