Striking Purple Gradient: Bentley Unveils One-Off Continental GTC
Bentley has revealed a unique version of its Continental GTC convertible, built as a one-off to celebrate 80 years of car production at the British marque's historic Crewe factory. The special paint fades from a vivid violet at the front to a deeper shade toward the rear.
Paint That Transforms Along the Body
Dubbed Supernova Purple Ombre, the finish starts with a Supernova Purple tone at the front, gradually shifting to Supernova Purple Dark at the back. Rather than a hard line between the two colors, Bentley blended them seamlessly, creating a transition that changes with the viewing angle and ambient lighting.
The result showcases the capabilities of the new paint shop at Crewe, developed with input from design, color, and trim teams alongside Mulliner — a process demanding precise control over paint density across every body panel.
The Number 80, Reversed in Effect
Both sides of the car feature a large '80' graphic, nodding to the decades since Bentley began manufacturing in Crewe. The company applied an inverted color treatment: where the body is lighter, the graphic appears darker, then shifts progressively as it moves into the deep-toned paintwork. The same idea extends to the wheels. That carry violet accents on their spokes that match the exterior gradient.
These details don't feel tacked-on — instead, the car reads as a single, cohesive piece rather than a standard model with a different coat of paint.
A Dashboard Turned Into Art
The celebratory theme carries into the cabin, where '80' is embroidered into the headrests, using colors that harmonize with the exterior finish. The standout interior feature, though, is a hand-painted artwork created with airbrush technique on the dashboard. It depicts Bentley's design studio in Crewe, alongside elements illustrating eight decades of automotive craftsmanship on the factory floor.
