EGP 402 Billion Investment in Alexandria Development: New Roads, Axes, and Projects
Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly conducted an extensive tour in Alexandria Governorate to inaugurate and inspect a number of industrial, service, and development projects, as part of the state's efforts to accelerate implementation rates and bring new projects into service.
Comprehensive Development Boom in Infrastructure
The Prime Minister affirmed that Alexandria has witnessed a major development boom over the past years, thanks to the comprehensive development led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. This boom included massive achievements in infrastructure, utilities, and national projects, along with the development of road networks and main axes, the implementation of urban projects in alternative housing, and the elimination of unsafe areas, in addition to the presidential initiative "Decent Life," which has transformed life in the governorate.
Supporting Industry and Creating Jobs
Madbouly stated that the state continues to support the industrial sector as a key pillar of economic growth, noting that the factories inaugurated during the tour represent a real addition to investments and will provide thousands of job opportunities for youth in Alexandria and neighboring governorates. He also highlighted the opening and operation of new traffic axes to alleviate congestion on the city's streets.
94 Projects Worth EGP 402 Billion
Engineer Ayman Attia, Governor of Alexandria, revealed the scale of ongoing and completed development projects, explaining that the total number of projects since 2014 has reached 94, with investments totaling EGP 402 billion. He added that these include 63 completed projects costing EGP 96 billion, and 31 ongoing projects with investments of EGP 306 billion, most notably the new Abu Qir City, the development of the transport system via the Abu Qir Metro project, the water carrier line for the Al-Hammam Canal as part of the New Delta project, in addition to road projects.
Major Expansions in Roads and Utilities
In the road sector, the governor pointed to the implementation of 17 national projects over the past years, covering a total length of 200 kilometers, alongside significant expansions in sanitation, drinking water, electricity, and public lighting projects, as well as the rainwater management project in Alexandria.
Expansion in Education and Healthcare
The governor explained that the governorate is witnessing notable expansion in the education sector, with land provided to the Educational Buildings Authority to build 275 new schools at a cost of EGP 1.9 billion. In the healthcare sector, coordination with the Ministry of Health is underway to improve the efficiency of health services in preparation for the implementation of the comprehensive health insurance system.
