Tony Latif: Electric Cars Are Like Phones – 99.9% of Owners Rely on Slow Charging

Tony Latif, an electric vehicle expert, compared the experience of owning an electric car to using a mobile phone, explaining that owners typically leave the vehicle plugged in overnight, starting their day with a fully charged car ready for daily use without the need for frequent charging stops.

Charging Methods Explained

Speaking on the radio program 'Arabity' on Radio Egypt, Latif revealed that the vast majority of electric car owners rely on slow charging, with approximately 99.9% following this method as recommended by manufacturers.

He noted that slow charging typically takes between 8 and 9 hours, while fast charging increases the electrical power delivered to the battery to reduce charging time, though it is not preferred for daily use.

Manufacturer Recommendations

Latif stressed that manufacturers advise using fast charging only for travel or emergencies, emphasizing that slow charging remains the optimal solution for maintaining battery health and long-term operational efficiency, and is the most widely adopted method among electric vehicle users worldwide.
