China's EV Charging Infrastructure Surges 41.9% to 23.68 Million Units

The National Energy Administration of China confirmed that the country's electric vehicle charging infrastructure has reached 23.68 million units by the end of July, marking a 41.9% year-on-year increase, according to Xinhua News Agency. The growth trajectory shows no sign of slowing down.

Public and Private Charging Stations Breakdown

Public charging facilities accounted for 5.099 million units, up 21.3% from last year. Private charging points, however, tell a more dramatic story — 18.58 million units with a staggering 48.8% year-on-year growth. Tesla Model Y owners and other EV drivers are clearly shifting toward home charging solutions.

Data from the national platform for charging infrastructure monitoring reveals a well-planned expansion strategy. The network is growing in direct response to new energy vehicle sales that exceeded 60% of total monthly car sales in July for the first time ever. The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers reported production of 1.57 million new energy vehicles in July, with sales reaching 1.56 million units — representing year-on-year growth of 26.8% and 23.7% respectively. China is now accelerating upgrades to its charging network to keep pace with surging demand.
