ASTRAUX Ultra-Compact Electric Vehicles Officially Arrive: Will They Come to Egypt?
Chinese automaker ASTRAUX has officially launched its AL6 and AL7 four-wheeled electric scooters in Italy. These compact vehicles offer a driving range of up to 180 kilometers, making them ideal for urban commuting.
Expanding Presence in Italy
China Car has strengthened its foothold in Italy by taking on the role of official importer and distributor for the ASTRAUX brand. The company showcased its new lineup of AL6 and AL7 electric quadricycles at the Car Dealers Day event in Verona, marking a strategic push into the European market.
Compact Urban Vehicle Specifications
The ASTRAUX is not a conventional car; it is a compact urban vehicle that sits between a moped and a small electric car. Measuring 2317 mm in length, 1295 mm in width, and 1720 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 1585 mm, it accommodates two passengers. This compact design makes it the perfect companion for short trips in city centers, narrow streets, or areas where a standard car is impractical.
Speed Variants and Driving Eligibility
The L6e version has a top speed of 45 km/h and can be driven from the age of 14. The more powerful L7e variant, available from age 16, reaches speeds of 80-90 km/h—sufficient for urban highways and secondary roads. For parents, the safety advantages of four wheels, a roof, and an enclosed cabin compared to a scooter are a decisive factor.
Interior Features and Range
The claimed driving range is 180 kilometers per charge, powered by a 3.3 kW motor. Inside, key features include a clear instrument panel, a surprisingly spacious cabin for this class, adjustable seats, a panoramic sunroof, and smartphone connectivity for apps like Google Maps and Spotify.
EU Approval and Warranty
Both the AL6 and AL7 have received European Union approval under Regulation 168/2013 as L6e and L7e category vehicles, meaning they can be registered and driven across the EU. The warranty covers three years and includes the main components of the electrical system.
A Practical Alternative to Scooters
ASTRAUX's philosophy is not to replace the family car, but to provide trips that would otherwise be taken by scooter, car-sharing, or other urban vehicles. With this global rollout, the question remains: will these ultra-compact EVs make their way to the Egyptian market soon?
