JB Auto Group has officially introduced the Chery-owned iCAUR V27 to the Egyptian market, debuting the iCAUR brand locally. Priced from EGP 1,900,000 for the rear-wheel-drive Play trim, the flagship Wild 4WD variant starts at EGP 2,150,000. The range-topping version delivers 335 kW and a combined range of nearly 1,000 kilometers.

REEV Technology and a Performance Leap

The iCAUR V27 rides on an REEV setup, meaning electric motors drive the wheels exclusively. A turbocharged 1.5-liter gasoline engine acts purely as a generator, charging the battery whenever needed. The Play trim produces 185 kW and 300 Nm of torque, while the Wild trim elevates output to 335 kW and 505 Nm, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 5.9 seconds.

Dimensions are generous for the segment, with an overall length of 5045 mm and a wheelbase stretching 2900 mm. That's more than most direct rivals. Battery choices include 20.47 kWh and 34.31 kWh packs depending on trim, yielding a total driving range close to 1,000 kilometers under the NEDC cycle — a figure that suits both daily commutes and long desert drives.

Top Rivals in the Egyptian Market

The competition is heating up as Diphal G318 enters the fray with a similar boxy SUV design and an identical REEV philosophy. Prices for the G318 start at EGP 2,150,000, reaching EGP 2,300,000 for the top specification. Meanwhile, the Jetour T2 i-DM takes a different route, blending rugged off-road styling with a plug-in hybrid PHEV system — a combination gaining serious traction among Egyptian buyers.

Specs Face-Off: Power and Range

The Diphal G318 counters with dual electric motors producing a combined 424 hp and 575 Nm of torque, offering a range of up to 998 kilometers according to the CLTC standard. Those numbers place it squarely in the crosshairs of the more powerful iCAUR V27 Wild trim, though the Chery-backed newcomer undercuts it on price.
