Price Hikes Hit 11 Cars in Egypt Within 48 Hours, Reaching EGP 50,000
Local agents in Egypt announced price increases on 11 new-car models within 48 hours, ranging from EGP 30,000 to EGP 50,000. The hikes covered the Kia Sportage 2027 across all five trims, the Kia K4 sedan, and every Kia EV including the EV3 and EV5 at a flat EGP 50,000. Opel, Chevrolet, and commercial vehicle models were also affected, signaling growing pricing pressure in the Egyptian market.
Egypt's new-car market woke up to another round of price increases this week, with 11 models hit by hikes ranging from EGP 30,000 to EGP 50,000 in under 48 hours. Kia led the charge, but Opel and Chevrolet were not spared. The numbers are stark.
Kia Sportage 2027 Takes the Biggest Hit — Up to EGP 50,000
EIT, the local agent for Kia in Egypt, announced increases on the Kia Sportage 2027 ranging from EGP 25,000 to EGP 50,000. Post-increase, the LX trim now sits at EGP 1.85 million, the EX at EGP 1.95 million. The Highline at EGP 2.1 million. The Premium trim reached EGP 2.35 million, while the fully loaded GT-Line hit EGP 2.45 million. These Kia prices reflect mounting pressure across every trim level.
Kia K4 Sedan Climbs EGP 30,000 to EGP 40,000
The Kia K4 sedan, model year 2027, saw hikes between EGP 30,000 and EGP 40,000 according to the latest price list from the local agent. The Highline now stands at EGP 1.55 million versus EGP 1.52 million before, while the GT-Line rose to EGP 1.75 million from EGP 1.72 million. The GT-Line Black Edition reached EGP 1.9 million, up from EGP 1.86 million. Small jumps, yes — but they add up fast.
EVs: A Flat EGP 50,000 Increase Across the Board
Every Kia electric vehicle on sale in Egypt rose by a flat EGP 50,000. The Kia EV3 now starts at EGP 1.45 million for the Air trim and tops out at EGP 2.1 million for the GT-Line, with the Earth trim at EGP 1.85 million. The Kia EV5 opens at EGP 2.1 million for Air, EGP 2.35 million for Earth, and EGP 2.6 million for GT-Line. One number... every trim.
Meanwhile, models from Opel and Chevrolet also moved, alongside commercial vehicles, with the size of each increase varying by model and trim. The moves came within hours of each other — a clear sign of instability in new-car pricing across the Egyptian market. Who pays? The buyer, every time.
