The latest monthly report from the Egyptian Compulsory Vehicle Insurance Pool has revealed the ranking of the best-selling passenger cars in Egypt for August. The market posted healthy growth of 6.19%, pushing total sales past the 24,000-unit mark in a single month. The new order brought with it plenty of drama, as top positions shifted dramatically and a brand-new name entered the race.

August Top-Sellers Breakdown

The MG ZS secured the crown in August with 646 units sold, edging out its closest rival by a razor-thin margin. Trailing behind was the Chery Arrizo 5 with 604 units, while the Hyundai Elantra claimed third place with 601 registrations. The gap separating the top three was a mere 45 cars, underscoring just how fierce competition has become in the compact sedan and crossover segments.

Fourth place belonged to the Nissan Sunny with 567 units, followed closely by the all-new Nissan Magnite making its debut on the list at 496 units. Jetour Dashing rounded out the top six with 368 sales, a strong showing that confirms the continued rise of Chinese brands across the local market.

Comparing August with July reveals seismic shifts in the sales landscape. In July, the Sunny dominated the chart with 1,213 deliveries, while the MG ZS sat second at 632 units. That same list featured the Elantra AD at 588, the Arrizo 5 with 346. The Jetour T2 at 272 units.

Sunny's Slump and Magnite's Rise

The standout story in August is the steep decline of the Nissan Sunny, whose sales nearly halved compared to July. Insiders point to a temporary production halt as the company retooled local assembly lines to launch the new Nissan Magnite — and those efforts are paying off immediately.

The Magnite didn't just enter the sales chart; it carved out a significant slice of the Sunny's former customer base. Data suggests Egyptian buyers are embracing the newcomer, drawn by Nissan's trusted badge, modern design, and aggressive pricing.
