French automotive group Renault has announced that it has obtained all necessary regulatory approvals to acquire the stakes held by Volvo Group and CMA CGM Group in Flexis SAS, a company specializing in light commercial and electric vehicles. With this transaction, Flexis becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Renault, giving the French automaker 100% control over the venture.

Flexis Ownership Structure and Deal Details

Prior to the acquisition, Flexis was jointly owned with Volvo Group holding a 45% stake, CMA CGM Group owning 10%, and Renault also holding 45%. Following the completion of the deal, Renault now has full ownership, strengthening its position in the electric light commercial vehicle and truck segment. Renault Group has confirmed that this acquisition will not impact its ambitious production plans, but rather accelerate the development of electric mobility solutions for urban logistics.

Flexis Mission to Revolutionize Urban Logistics

Flexis operates in the light commercial vehicle and electric truck manufacturing sector, with a clear mission to transform urban logistics and last-mile delivery services. The company aims to produce a new generation of innovative, connected electric vans that integrate advanced telecommunications networks. This strategic focus aligns with the global shift toward sustainable electric mobility and the reduction of carbon emissions in city centers, positioning Flexis as a key player in the future of eco-friendly transportation.

Renault Production Plans and Future Volvo Partnership

In a parallel development, Volvo Group will begin marketing Flexis products through Renault Trucks starting in 2027, reinforcing the long-term partnership between the two companies in the commercial vehicle space. Meanwhile, Renault is set to launch production of its all-new small electric commercial vehicle, the Renault Trafic Van E-Tech Electric, by the end of this year at its Sandouville plant in France. This expansion in electric production underscores Renault's commitment to becoming a dominant force in the European and global electric commercial vehicle market.
