Nissan Magnite Achieves 55% Local Content from Day One, Highest Among Passenger Cars in Egypt
Engineer Mohamed Abdel Samad, Chairman of Nissan Egypt and Africa, confirmed that the new Nissan Magnite represents a significant step in the company's local manufacturing strategy, noting that the vehicle's local content ratio reached 55% from the start of production—the highest rate currently in Egypt's passenger car market.
During his interview on the 'Arabity' program on Radio Egypt, Abdel Samad explained that Nissan's goal is not merely to manufacture and sell cars for profit, but to build a long-term project based on increasing local manufacturing, creating export opportunities, and delivering real value to Egyptian consumers.
Abdel Samad pointed out that manufacturing any new model typically starts with a local content ratio of around 45%, which then increases gradually at annual rates. However, the Magnite launched directly at 55%, and the company plans to raise this percentage further in the coming years.
The Chairman of Nissan Egypt and Africa added that the car is being manufactured for the first time in Africa at Nissan's factory in 6th of October City, making the Egyptian plant the second global production site for this model.
