Nissan Egypt Studies Local Production of Commercial and Transport Vehicles
Nissan is looking to expand its manufacturing footprint in Egypt. After producing the Sunny and Sentra locally — with the Sentra making way for the Magnite — the company now eyes a different segment. The move could reshape its local operations.
Studying a Transport Vehicle Line
Mohamed Abdel Samad, Chairman and Managing Director of Nissan Egypt and Africa, said the company is actively studying the production of a transport vehicle in Egypt. The remarks came during a radio interview, where he stressed a clear strategy for commercial vehicles. The goal is straightforward: boost local manufacturing and meet growing demand.
6th of October Plant Has the Capacity
The company's plant in 6th of October City has the full capability to manufacture commercial vehicles, according to Abdel Samad. Demand for light transport vehicles is rising steadily. Small business owners and craftsmen are driving much of that growth. No final timeline has been set for the project, though.
The commercial vehicle segment in Egypt is gaining momentum, making Nissan's potential entry a logical strategic fit. The automaker brings decades of global expertise in this field. The coming months will likely reveal which models and timeframes are under consideration.
